The Windswept 8 House

The internationally acclaimed building 8 HOUSE by famous Danish architect Bjarke Ingels began selling its 476 apartments right in the worst economic crisis since the great depression. Sales were slow to pick up, and to many Danes the building project in the far part of Copenhagen stood as a proof to show that Ørestaden, the new part of Copenhagen, would fail to gain success.

Produced in 2011, “The Windswept 8 HOUSE” sets out to examine what the residents of 8 HOUSE do to build a community, what new buyers are requiring and what responsibility the public builder has to ensure that a new community blossoms.
